Antioxidant Activity Screening service

Antioxidant Activity Screening Services at CD BioGlyco

Many naturally occurring active glycans are found in marine organisms, and due to their specific growth activity, the structure and properties of these marine-derived glycans are different from those of terrestrial-derived glycans. CD BioGlyco has extensive experience in the research of all types of glycans and related glycoproteins and offers high-quality marine glycan and glycoprotein analysis services.

We provide in vitro, cellular, and in vivo screening services of marine glycans and glycoproteins for their antioxidant activity. We also offer an in-depth screening of antioxidant activity based on these assays in combination with highly efficient analytical tools (high-performance liquid chromatography and liquid chromatograph mass spectrometer).

In addition, we provide cell-based assays, simulated digestion assays, or in vivo antioxidant assays to comprehensively evaluate the antioxidant activity of marine glycans and glycoproteins.

Antioxidant activity is an important Biological Activity of Marine Glycan & Glycoprotein. We adopt different perspectives to provide marine glycan & glycoprotein antioxidant activity screening services.

1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) Scavenging Assay Service

The solution of DPPH dissolved in alcohol is purple and stable, with some oxidizing properties and absorbance values in specific areas. CD BioGlyco use this as a basis to analyze the DPPH scavenging ability of marine glycan & glycoprotein. We will add it to the alcoholic solution of DPPH and observe the color change or measure the absorbance value of the solution.

Hydroxyl Radical Scavenging Assay Service

The hydroxyl radical causes O-diazophene Fe2+ to be oxidized to Fe3+, causing the maximum light absorption value to disappear. CD BioGlyco analyzes the hydroxyl radical scavenging ability of marine glycan&glycoprotein by determining the light absorption value of the mixture around 510nm.

Superoxide Radical Scavenging Assay Service

The O-tri-phenol is easily oxidized by superoxide radicals the reaction is a color reaction and the product has a high absorbance value at 320 nm. CD BioGlyco utilizes this as a basis for analyzing the superoxide radical scavenging ability of marine glycan & glycoprotein.

Chelating Ability on Ferrous Ions Assay Service

For the detection of the ferrous ion chelating ability of marine glycan & glycoprotein, CD BioGlyco offers ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy as well as fluorescence spectroscopy. The absorption spectra of ferrous ion and marine glycan&glycoprotein are measured before and after the reaction, respectively, to analyze the ferrous ion chelating ability of marine glycan&glycoprotein.

Lipid Peroxidation Inhibition Assay Service

CD BioGlyco analyzes the lipid peroxidation inhibitory capacity of marine glycan & glycoprotein by assaying the substrate, products, and degradation products of the overall reaction. We determine the amount of substrate consumed using either the oxygen electrode method or the manometry method. Electron spin resonance is used to determine the lipid radicals of the products. The degradation products of lipid peroxidation are determined by gas chromatography, fluorescence, or chemiluminescence.

Technology: In vitro antioxidant modeling of DPPH free radicals

Journal: IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science

Published: 2020

Results: The antioxidant capacity of four substances from marine organisms, alginate, carboxymethyl chitosan, glucosamine hydrochloride, and clams small molecule peptide, were researched using DPPH free radical as an in vitro antioxidant model and ascorbic acid as a control group. After in vitro experiments, the results showed that all four marine active substances have good antioxidant properties, and their antioxidant activities showed a certain quantitative relationship with concentration. In particular, the small molecule peptide from the corrugated barfin fish was superior to the other two marine species in eliminating DPPH free radicals. Especially, the elimination rate of DPPH radicals reached 95.7% when the concentration was 4 g/L.
