Our Marine Glycomics Service is highly sought after, attracting significant interest from our clients. Whether our clients require assistance with Marine Glycan Release Service, Separation and Purification Service, Derivatization Service, or characterization service, our team of experts is dedicated to providing the highest quality service and support.

  • Structural Characterization
We determine information about the chemical structure and linkages of marine sugar molecules by using techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS), and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). We use these techniques to non-destructively analyze and determine your marine sugar molecules to provide you with more accurate results.
  • Monosaccharide Composition Analysis
We break down marine sugars into monosaccharides by acid hydrolysis or enzymatic hydrolysis, etc. Then we use chromatographic techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and gas chromatography (GC) to separate and quantify individual monosaccharides to understand their monosaccharide composition.
  • Optical and Thermal Property Analysis
We help you understand the potential of marine sugars for applications in optical sensors or fluorescent probes by determining the absorbance, fluorescence properties, and other properties of the compounds through spectroscopic analysis techniques. Meanwhile, we provide the determination of the melting point and thermal stability of marine sugars through thermal analysis techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

Technology: Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization MS (MALDI-MS) and electrospray ionization MS (ESI-MS)

IF: 5.4

Results: This paper details the progress made in the application of MS in the structural analysis of marine oligosaccharides. By MS, information such as molecular mass, degree of polymerization, composition, sequence, linkage position, and substituent distribution of marine oligosaccharides can be analyzed. For neutral or low-sulfated oligosaccharides, they can be analyzed directly by ESI or MALDI-MS. For highly sulfated oligosaccharides, they can be analyzed by the stabilized natriuretic form in ESI-MS or deduced by derivatization methods in MALDI-MS. MS techniques, particularly through the multi-step strategy of ESI tandem MS, are employed for the identification of highly sulfated oligosaccharides and the determination of their sequence and sulfation sites. In addition, MS is used to determine the location of sulfation and epimerization by the abundance of characteristic ions. In conclusion, MS has important applications in the structural analysis of marine oligosaccharides.

Applications

  • Marine glycans are widely used in drug discovery and development because of their various biological activities, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor effects.
  • Marine glycans have diverse structures and bioactivities and are used as biomaterials for detection, separation, and purification.
  • Marine glycans are used to produce biodegradable plastics, bio-based materials, and other environmentally friendly materials, which help to reduce the environmental pollution caused by traditional plastics.
