λ-Carrageenan Adjuvant Development Service at CD BioGlyco
λ-Carrageenan is a polysaccharide compound derived from red algae and belongs to the group of galacturonate polysaccharides. It has a wide range of biological activities and functions and is therefore widely used in fields such as medicine and biotechnology. With our talented scientists and technicians, CD BioGlyco has built a sophisticated system for the development and Production of Marine Biomolecules. The Marine Carbohydrate-based Vaccine and Adjuvant Development Services offered by us are highly appreciated by our clients. Our λ-carrageenan adjuvant development services come in various forms, one of which is the vaccine adjuvant development service The following is the proposed workflow of λ-carrageenan vaccine adjuvant development:
- First, we communicate with clients to determine the type of vaccine to be developed and the target pathogen and select the appropriate antigen as the immunogen for the vaccine.
- Then, we design a suitable adjuvant formulation based on the vaccine type and target immune response. Factors such as the concentration, morphology, and structure of λ-carrageenan are adjusted to interact with the target antigen to enhance immunogenicity and stability.
- Subsequently, we perform in vitro and in vivo experiments to evaluate the effect of the adjuvant. We assess the interaction of λ-carrageenan with antigens, stability, and immune cell activation capacity through in vitro experiments. In our in vivo experiments, the effect of vaccine adjuvants on the immune response is tested in animal models, and indicators such as immune cell activation, antibody production, and cellular immunity are evaluated.
- Based on the assessment results, the adjuvant is then optimized and improved. The formulation and dosage of λ-carrageenan are adjusted or combined with other adjuvant ingredients to further improve the effect of the vaccine adjuvant. The optimized vaccine adjuvant is subjected to in vitro cytotoxicity assay and animal toxicity assay to assess the safety of the adjuvant on cells and organisms.
- Finally, based on the safety assessment results, clinical trials are conducted. In the clinical trials, the immunogenicity, stability, and safety of the vaccine adjuvants are evaluated, and the immune responses and protective effects are observed.

Results: This article investigates the application of λ-carrageenan in cancer therapy. It was found that λ-carrageenan could enhance the effect of radiotherapy by inhibiting the expression of RacGAP1, thereby inhibiting the invasion and metastasis of cancer cells. The experimental results showed that λ-carrageenan could effectively inhibit the protein expression of RacGAP1. In a mouse model, λ-carrageenan combined with radiotherapy can significantly reduce the size of the tumor and the risk of metastasis. These findings suggest that λ-carrageenan can be used as an adjuvant treatment to radiotherapy by inhibiting the expression of RacGAP1, thus enhancing the effect of radiation therapy and inhibiting the invasion and metastasis of cancer cells.
