Carijoside A is a bioactive sterol glycoside with anti-inflammatory activity. Carijoside A is a pure and natural Marine Biomolecule. Through our advanced extraction and purification techniques, carijoside A maximizes its natural activity and provides strong support for your project applications. Whether for experimental research, biopharmaceuticals, or as a feedstock molecule, Carijoside A from CD BioGlyco is the ideal choice for you.
Our biological lab staff rinse the collected coral samples using purified water or seawater to remove sediment and large particles of impurities from the surface. The cleaned coral samples are placed in an ultrasonic cleaner and a detergent is added to remove microorganisms attached to the coral. The coral samples are rinsed several times with purified water to ensure that all disinfectant residue was removed. Finally, our researchers cut the coral into pieces.
Our lab provides professional carijoside A extraction service by organic solvent extraction such as MeOH and CH2Cl2. Moreover, we use ethyl acetate and water for multiple extractions of the extracts. The target component is separated by silica gel and eluted using hexane/acetone. Elution gradients and buffers have been optimized by our researchers to ensure optimal separation.
Our commonly used analytical tools include nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). For purified carijoside A, we offer a range of services as follows.
Technology: High-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS), IR, NMR, Cytotoxicity testing

Results: The authors purified a novel glycoside, carijoside A, from an octocoral Carijoa sp. The structure of carijoside A was determined after extensive spectroscopic analyses. Moreover, the researchers characterized the biological activity of carijoside A. The results showed that carijoside A inhibits superoxide anion production and elastase release in human neutrophils.
Fig.1 The structure of carijoside A. (Liu, et al., 2010)
What is the structure of carijoside A?
The structure of carijoside A is 3β-O-(3',4'-di-O-acetyl-β-D-arabinopyranosyl)-25ζ-cholestane-3β,5α,6β,26-tetrol-26-acetate.
What other steroid glycosides can be isolated from the soft corals?
The steroid glycoside obtained by isolation and purification from soft coral further comprising hirsutosteroside A (ragnane glycoside), 24-methylenecholest-5-ene-3β,16β-diol-3-O-α-L-fucoside, and sinubrasone A.
