Echinoderm-derived Lectin Production Service

Echinoderm-derived Lectin Production Service

Enabling Research Through High-quality Echinoderm-derived Lectin

Echinoderm-derived lectins have shown promising applications in various fields due to their unique carbohydrate-binding properties and good biological activities. CD BioGlyco provides a one-stop echinoderm-derived lectin production service by combining advanced Marine Lectins purification and analytical technologies. We ensure efficient production of echinoderm-derived lectin and strong support for its application.

Our researchers are experienced in Marine Biomolecule Production and develop customized experimental protocols based on species type and client requirements. Our efficient production program ensures that high-quality echinoderm-derived lectin is obtained and that its biological activity and structural integrity are maintained. Echinoderm-derived lectin is produced in the following steps:

Extraction

We extract echinoderm-derived lectin crude extract from sea urchins, starfish, sea cucumber, etc., through a series of steps such as raw material pretreatment, and solvent extraction.

Purification

We purify echinoderm-derived lectin by centrifugation, affinity chromatography, dialysis, etc., to obtain high-purity products. Afterward, they are used for the characterization of structure and biological activity by freeze-drying.

Characterization

We combine a variety of advanced analytical techniques to characterize the structure and bioactivity of the purified echinoderm-derived lectin products, which helps our clients to deeply study its function and application value.

Results: In this study, researchers purified a lectin from Anneissia japonica, named OXYL, and characterized the structure and function of the lectin. The researchers found that OXYL is a type-2 LacNAc-binding lectin, and the encoded protein consists of 159 amino acids. It has significant anti-biofilm activity and can adhere to the surface of cancer cells, but has no cytotoxic effect. This study provides methodological support for the extraction, purification, and characterization of echinoderm-derived lectin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there different types of lectins extracted from echinoderms?

Several types of echinoderm lectins, such as C-type lectins, galactose-binding lectins, mannose-binding lectins, etc., have been purified from different species of echinoderms such as starfish, sea cucumbers, and sea urchins. Various types of lectins may have different carbohydrate-binding specificities and biological activities, which have a wide range of applications in biology, biomedicine, and other areas.

How to purify the extracted crude extract of echinoderm-derived lectin?

Affinity chromatography, gel filtration chromatography, and ion exchange chromatography are used to purify echinoderm-derived lectin. Affinity chromatography is a commonly used method to achieve efficient separation of lectins based on specific carbohydrate-binding specificity.

CD BioGlyco provides a high-quality echinoderm-derived lectin production service to help explore the full potential and expand applications of echinoderm-derived lectin.
