Porphyran Production Service

Your Trusted Porphyran Production Partner

CD BioGlyco offers a wide range of professional Marine Carbohydrate Production Services. Our expertise service includes the production of Plant Polysaccharides, Animal Polysaccharides, and Microbial Polysaccharides. The details of our porphyran production service are as follows:

Extraction

  • We provide microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) of porphyran for you to extract porphyran from red algae with high efficiency. MAE utilizes the property that microwave radiation can penetrate the cell wall, and through the absorption of solvents and cellular fluids, the temperature and pressure inside the cell increase, which leads to the rupture of the cell wall and the outflow of porphyran. Microwave radiation can quickly destroy the cell wall, accelerate the dissolution of polysaccharides, and effectively improve the extraction rate of porphyran. Compared with the traditional water extraction method, our MAE technology provides you with higher extraction efficiency and product yield.
  • Our common method of chemical extraction of porphyran is acid digestion. Acidolysis is the process of extracting porphyran by soaking red algae in an acidic solution and dissolving the cell walls through the action of acid. The acids we commonly use include sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and nitric acid. Our chemical method is more efficient in extracting porphyran, and our experts also strictly control the conditions of acid digestion to avoid adverse effects on the structure and function of porphyran.
  • We also conduct Enzymatic Extraction of porphyran by degrading polysaccharides in Porphyra using specific enzymes. Porphyranase, an enzyme with the capability to specifically degrade porphyran, has been isolated and characterized from various sources. Our enzymatic process for porphyran extraction is relatively gentle and efficient, allowing for effective extraction and utilization of porphyran.

Purification

Our purification methods for porphyran include the traditional Sevage, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), and hydrochloric acid methods for protein removal, as well as adsorption, oxidation, and large pore adsorption resin methods for pigment removal. In addition, stepwise precipitation, salting out, ion exchange chromatography, gel column chromatography, and ultrafiltration were also used by us for the graded purification of porphyran. Subsequently, we characterize the porphyran by the determination to determine its structure and properties.

Results: This article focuses on the anticancer activity of porphyran and carrageenan from red algae. It has been shown that these polysaccharides have potent anticancer properties and are non-toxic to normal cells. The inhibitory effects of porphyran and carrageenan on tumor cells have been demonstrated through in vitro and in vivo experiments. In addition, when combined with conventional drugs, these polysaccharides not only show more potent anticancer activity, but also enhance drug-impaired immunity, such as increasing spleen weight, activating lymphocyte proliferation, restoring TNF-alpha levels, and reactivating reduced spleen and white splenic tissue. Methods of extracting porphyran from red algae, including hot water extraction, free radical degradation, and sonication, are mentioned in the text. These methods were used to extract porphyran from red algae.

  • Porphyran possesses antioxidant properties, making it a suitable ingredient in cosmetics for combating the signs of skin aging.

Advantages

  • We achieve high-purity extraction through strict production processes and quality control to ensure its effectiveness in different applications.
  • We offer a diverse array of extraction methods, allowing for the selection of the most suitable one based on your specific requirements.
  • Our advanced extraction technology enables us to precisely control the parameters of the extraction process, ensuring consistent and high-quality porphyran production.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is porphyran?

Porphyran is a sulfated polysaccharide from Porphyra with a unique chemical structure and a variety of biological activities. It consists of galactose and 3,6-anhydrogalactose, with some of the galactose residues bearing sulfate groups. Porphyran has a structure similar to agar, with linear or slightly branched polysaccharide chains and high molecular weight.

Which red algae are suitable for porphyran extraction?

Red algae suitable for porphyran extraction mainly include the genus Porphyra (e.g., Porphyra tenera and Porphyra yezoensis). In addition, the genera Gelidium also contain small amounts of porphyran although they are mainly used for agar extraction. Selection of suitable red algal species and optimization of harvesting time is crucial for the extraction of high-quality porphyran, and the cleanliness of the sea conditions also affects its quality and yield.
