Ancorinoside is a natural glycolipid compound found in marine organisms with antimicrobial activity. It is extracted or isolated from certain microorganisms or marine plants in the ocean and has been found to have antimicrobial properties that may have potential applications in pharmaceutical or antibiotic development. CD BioGlyco has been providing comprehensive Marine Glycolipid Production Services to our clients for many years, including but not limited to our Marine Glycosphingolipid Production, Marine Glycoglycerolipid Production, and Marine Atypical Glycolipid Production Services. The details of our ancorinoside production service are as follows.
We offer a comprehensive range of ancorinoside production services using chemical synthesis methods. Our expertise includes the synthesis of ancorinoside A-D and we are committed to providing tailored solutions to meet your specific needs. Our team of experts carefully evaluates and selects the most suitable synthesis pathway, taking into consideration factors such as efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality. For instance, in the synthesis of ancorinoside B, we prepare the amides, thioesters, ketoamides, and cyclized products that we desired in a stepwise manner using N-acylation, Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons (HWE) olefination, silver-catalyzed coupling, and basic Dieckmann cyclization reactions.
We employ various pre-treatment methods to ensure the quality of our raw materials. This includes washing, cutting, and grinding the materials before extraction. Furthermore, we are committed to choosing the most suitable technology for organic solvent extraction (e.g. methanol and different ratios of chloroform/methanol, etc.) based on the specific characteristics of the raw materials. For example, in some cases, we may utilize ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) or microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our extraction process.
We determine the functional groups and their relative positions in the molecules of the compounds by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR and 13C NMR). The molecular ion peaks and fragment ion peaks of the molecules are provided by mass spectrometry to determine the molecular weight and structure of the molecules. Meanwhile, we measure the functional groups and chemical bonds in the sample molecules by infrared spectroscopy (IR).

Results: This article focuses on the synthesis and biological activity of ancorinoside B. Researchers successfully synthesized ancorinoside B and found that it has a potent anti-biofilm effect, is non-toxic to microorganisms, and reduces the secretion and expression of matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9. It inhibited the secretion of the matrix metalloproteinases MMP-2 and MMP-9, which are associated with cancer metastasis while inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus aureus biofilms by approximately 87% at concentrations as low as 0.5 µg/mL. This concentration is well below its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of approximately 67 µg/mL and is therefore unlikely to induce bacterial resistance. In addition, at a concentration of approximately 2 µg/mL, it also resulted in the dispersion of 67% of the formed Staphylococcus aureus biofilm. Therefore, ancorinoside B may be an interesting candidate for controlling bacterial infections of medical devices, catheters, or joint prostheses.
